Since 1918, Veteran’s Day has been celebrated on the 11^th day of the 11^th month each year. Although we should be doing this on a daily basis, Veteran’s Day calls for honoring our veterans. Their duties and sacrifices deserve unmatched recognition. There are a variety of ways in which you can celebrate and honor our veterans on Veteran’s Day, including:

• Wearing the yellow ribbon or a red poppy is one of the simplest ways to show your support for our amazing veterans.
• Whenever there is an excuse to throw a party, we do! So why not host a care package packing party where you, your friends, and neighbors gather care package items and include notes of gratitude.
• The veterans’ hospital can get extremely lonely, so why not arrange a visit and put a smile on someone’s face! Sometimes all we need is someone to tell our life stories to.
• Ask your children if their teachers have brought up the holiday. If not, you may want to suggest inviting a veteran to discuss their experience serving our country.
• If you have any veterans that work in your office, give them some recognition on this day. This will require some planning to make sure that you do not miss anyone.
• Take matters into your own hands and educate others of the importance of celebrating the holiday. Whether you choose to pass out the yellow ribbon of recognition or simply explain the origin of Veteran’s Day to another, your efforts mean a great deal.
• There are typically a bountiful of local Veteran’s Day events such as parades and vigils. Attending one of these events is a great way to show the vast audiences who care for our brave veterans.
